Michael Moore - 11/13/00 01:14:12 My URL:http://www.thehomeland.org My Email:webmaster@thehomeland.org | Comments: TONS OF STUFF! Texas Instruments TI-99/4A Home Computer, Plus Manuals, books, 19 Cartidges (and THEIR manuals), wall adapter and controllers! This is a vintage Personal Computer from back in the day of computers that were a single unit plus a monitor (or a TV, not included). Games included in this great lot of classic hardware (* means manual included): Early Learning Fun*, Statistics*, Home F nancial Decisions*, Alpiner, Connect Four*, Munch Man (x2), STAR TREK: Strategic Operations Simulator*, Moon Mine*, Household Budget Management (x2), Number Magic*, Adventure*, Tombstone City*, A-Maze-ing, Music Maker*, Hangman, Othello* and Parsec*. Ther are also 3 thin Cassette Software manuals: Music Skills Trainer, Oldies but Goodies - Games I, and Computer Music Box. The Adventure cartridge doesn't have the cassette data, unfortunately. The mostly-green User's Reference Manual (136 pages + Appendix Addendum), A Beginner's BASIC manual (141 pages), another 'Programming BASIC with the TI Home Computer' book (300 pages with problems and solutions) are also included in this big lot. The machine itself is a chrome-and-black version, with the key-strip at the top and the UL-listed wall adaptor. I can verify that the red light comes on when plugged in, but since I don't have monitor hookups, I can't verify its supreme working order. I is very clean, and has been in storage for quite a while, and possibly never even used, since I still have the original packing carton (top and bottom, thin molded syrofoam). In appearance, it is very shiny, with no scrapes that I can find. Some of the cartridges may be a little dusty but I will try to clean them out. I've used this kind of computer many many times before when I was a youngster, and I think would be a good investment for a child to work with because (1) There are a number of hand-eye c ordination games (2) a number of educational carts like counting, pushing the right numbers and letters on the keyboard, add-subtract-mutliply-divide math problems, and fanfare to go with each correct answer. I learned counting and ABC's on these machine and also firmly believe a good sense about computers in general can be learned with its operation. Please note there are two different cartridge styles for Munchman (for you collectors who care), BOTH the pink background with bold block yellow letters, nd a traditional style lettered cart. Tombstone City has the 21st Century manual, so I am assuming the cart is the same, although it DOESN'T say 21st Century on the label. (There is a very rare Tombstone City (renamed from Saguaro City) prototype that ha the same item number). I do take credit cards with Paypal (email me for info) and have a good feedback rating on eBay. Money Orders and Cashier's Checks OK (no checks). Shipping is $2 for carts or exact for large items (like manuals or machines). PLEASE email me with question ! |
